The Delegation is headed by the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in OSCE PA Oleh Bilorus and consists of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine. Peklushenko, L. Biriuk, Yu. Lytvyn, O. Stoian and S. Shevchuk.
The main theme of the Parliamentary Assembly is "Supremacy of Law: Fighting Transnational Crime and Corruption." In the work of the Assembly take part Parliamentarians from 56 countries-members of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and representatives of many associated countries and international organizations.
In the course of the sitting Dag Terje Andersen, President of the Storting of Norway and Jonas Gahr Støre, Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered their speeches.
Dag. Andersen paid special attention to the global topic of the session "Fighting Transnational Crime and Corruption." According to Mr. Andersen, globalization gives opportunities for the states to share their experience and Norway takes all the advantages of this opportunity. Though, D. Andersen is convinced that there are negative consequences of the globalization it is corruption and international crime.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway defined five principal issues the attention of OSCE PA is supposed to be paid to. In particular: contribution of OSCE into the development of the transfrontier cooperation; fighting drug industry as, according to the UNO evaluation only within European market it comprises USD 54 billion per year together with USD 13 billion Russian market; fighting human beings traffic; reformation of European and Euro-Atlantic security system; improvement and strengthening of the current OSCE instruments of world peace and security protection.
XIX Annual Session of OSCE PA traditionally is held in the form of the plenary meetings and in the framework of three committees on political matters and security; on economic issues, research, technologies and environment; on democracy matters, human rights and social issues.
Moreover, on the initiative of the deputies from the national parliaments, the Assembly scrutinizes the extra draft resolutions on the issues of OSCE activity. Ukrainian delegation introduced two draft resolutions: "Resolution on impossibility of use of the national armed forces on the territory of the neighboring states" and "Resolution on the democracy and delimitation of the state borders of independent Eastern European states."
In the result of the debates, in the course of XIX session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe the common Norway Declaration would be adopted. It shall consist of thematic resolutions passed during the session.
